WINTER PARK, Fla. (March 30, 2007) ' Rollins
was never able to get the offense on track and dropped a 3-0
decision to Florida Southern on a soggy Friday evening in Winter
Park. The Tars (27-8, 4-3 SSC) knocked out just one hit and
committed an error while the Mocs (31-8, 6-1 SSC) banged out eight
hits on the day.
Nicole Anderson suffered the complete game loss in the circle,
scattering eight hits and three runs, two earned, with seven
strikeouts. Megan Brown picked up the victory for FSC, allowing
just one hit with eight strikeouts and one walk.
Rollins shortstop Lauren Starcher went 1-2 in the game to lead
Rollins at the plate. Michelle Tatlock and Jesse Shepherd each went
3-4 while Sarah Kohlbrenner knocked in Tatlock three times for a
team best three RBI.
Florida Southern picked up their first run in the third as
Tatlock and Shepherd recorded back-to-back singles, followed by a
Kohlbrenner groundout that scored Tatlock. The Mocs got another in
the fifth with Tatlock hitting a two out single and Kohlbrenner
plating her on a sac fly to right field. FSC then picked up an
insurance run in the top of the seventh as singles by Tatlock,
Shepherd and Kohlbrenner plated Tatlock to make the score 3-0.
Rollins will continue their three game series with Florida
Southern on Saturday, March 31 with a 1 p.m. doubleheader in Winter
Park.
