ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (March 2, 2007) ' Senior infielder Stacy Sanders blasted two homers and sophomore hurler Nicole Anderson tossed a one hit shutout as the Rollins softball team rolled past Eckerd 7-0 in the Sunshine State Conference opener for both teams.

Rollins (9-5, 1-0 SSC) was led by Sanders and Jamie Rausch, who each went 2-3 with three RBI. Sander's two homeruns on the day moved her into first place on the Tars' career homerun list with 27 while Rausch moved into 10th place with her eighth career dinger.

Anderson stifled the Eckerd (4-9, 0-1 SSC) bats, surrendering just one hit while racking up 10 strikeouts, improving her record to 7-4 on the year.

Rollins got on the board in the fourth inning as Sanders led off with a solo shot over the fence. The Tars got three more in the sixth to take a commanding 4-0 lead. Rachel Almengual led off the frame with a single and was brought home after Sanders' second bomb of the night. Rausch doubled later in the inning and crossed the plate on a Victoria Rudolph groundout.

The Tars put it away in the seventh with three more runs, all coming from the bat of Rausch, who hit a three RBI homer with two outs.

Rollins will finish their three game set with Eckerd on Saturday, March 3 in St. Petersburg. First pitch for game one is slated for 4 p.m.
