No. 16 Tars Top Bryant Without Dropping A Set

WINTER PARK, Fla. (March 15, 2007) ' The Rollins men's tennis team easily defeated the Bryant College Bulldogs 9-0 on Thursday morning at the Martin Complex. The Tars (8-5) have gotten back on track with three straight wins.

Rollins only gave up seven total games in three matches of doubles play. The No. 1 team of Gustavo Carvalho and Jonathan Gomez picked up their ninth win of the season against Dylan Whiting and Matt Sheppard-Lupo 8-2. Brian Compton got back to his winning ways since suffering injury. He partnered with Adrian Tan in the second seed and demolished Craig Drushella and Kevin Gardiner 8-1. Bill Rockwood and Kevin Stickney notched their first win in doubles and as a team in the No. 3 spot defeating Ben Caisse and Kevin Levinson 8-4.

Singles action rolled on smoothly for the Tars, as they took all six matches decisively. Compton took his match in the top spot against Gardiner 6-0, 7-6, while Gomez pounded Whiting 6-0, 6-1 in the No. 2 seed. In the No. 3 match, Albin Hubscher did away with Drushella 6-4, 6-1 as Noah John posted his third win of the season against Caisse 6-4, 6-4 in the fourth seed. Stickney took out Sheppard-Lugo 6-1, 6-0 in the fifth position and Rockwood blanked Michael Pickowicz 6-0, 6-0 in the No. 6 spot.

The Tars will hit the hard courts for the sixth straight day when they host the Bentley Falcons (5-3) at 10:00 a.m. at the Martin Complex.
