WINTER PARK, Fla. (March 16, 2007) ' Rollins
swept doubles competition as the Tars rolled past the Bentley
Bulldogs 5-0 on Friday morning at the Martin Complex. Rollins has
won their last four matches, three of which came at their home
court.
The No. 1 team of Jonathan Gomez and Gustavo Carvalho leveled
Greg Maloomian and Miles Holman 8-2. Brian Compton teamed with
Adrian Tan in the second seed to defeat Mike McCrillis and Mike
Dolan 8-1. Noah John and Mike Compton controlled No. 3 doubles
notching a win over Patrick Schorno and Matt Sansoucie 8-1.
Tars' first seed B. Compton was the only player to complete his
match as he ran past Maloomian 6-0, 6-1. No. 32 Tan took the first
set 6-1 as the rest of play was unfinished due to rain. Carvalho
only played one game of his match before his opponent, McCrillis,
retired. No. 4 Kevin Stickney, No. 5 Bill Rockwood and No. 6 Jason
Hamidi were all leading their opponents when their matches were
called because of an impending storm.
Rollins (9-5) will be back in action on Tuesday, March 20 when
they travel to Melbourne to take on their first Sunshine State
Conference opponent, the Florida Tech Panthers (6-10) at 2:00
p.m.
