WINTER PARK, Fla. (March 14, 2007) ' The 16th
ranked Rollins men's tennis team jumped out to a 2-1 lead after
doubles and swept through singles to post an 8-1 victory over the
University of Indianapolis on Wednesday.
The Greyhounds (3-10) scored their lone point of the match in
the No. 3 doubles slot as JD Greenlee and Jonathan Hack teamed to
down Mike and Brian Compton, 9-7. The Tars (7-5) were big winners
in the other two doubles matches as Jonathan Gomez and Gustavo
Carvalho teamed to down Jan Stastny and Tom Rastall 8-4 in the No.
1 match while Adrian Tan and Michael Schwartz posted an 8-2 win
over Alan Dowell and Levi Musser in the No. 2 position.
Rollins put the match away early, winning all but one singles
match in straight sets. Tan, the 32nd ranked player in Division II,
downed Stasty 6-2, 6-1 at No. 1 with Brian Compton taking Hack 6-1,
6-2 in the No. 2 slot. Gomez was a 6-2, 6-2 winner over Greenlee in
the No. 3 match and Gustavo Carvalho defeated Musser 6-2, 2-6, 6-3
at No. 4. Bill Rockwood took Dowell 6-4, 6-4 and Kevin Stickney
downed Rastall 6-3, 6-3 in the No. 6 position.
The Rollins men's tennis team will be back in action on
Thursday, March 15 as they will host Bryant at 10 a.m.
