WINTER PARK, Fla. (February 7, 2007) - The Rollins women's basketball team lost a hard-fought game against their conference rival University of Tampa Spartans 60-54 Wednesday night at Warden Arena. The Tars previously defeated the Spartans this season 55-43 on December 2.

Leading the way for the Tars (17-5, 8-3) was guard Jennifer Dyer who notched a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds on the night. Freshman Jessica Pressley had another stellar game with 11 points and two assists going three of six from behind the arc. Defensively, sophomore transfer Ines Teuma grabbed seven rebounds and added six points for the Tars.

The Spartans (17-6, 9-3) bolted out to a 17 point lead at the nine minute mark, 27-10. Rollins attempted a comeback before the half, but Tampa was too strong inside beating the Tars 14 to six in points in the paint. The Spartans took a 14 point lead into the locker room at the half, 36-22.

Coming into the second half with renewed momentum, Rollins cut the Spartan's lead to three with 14 minutes remaining, 40-37. Tampa's offense refused to back down with forwards Alexa Kane and Erica Woodard totaling a combined 14 points in the second half, giving their team a solid eight point lead with five minutes to go. Rollins would only score eight more points in the half as the Spartans routed the Tars on their home turf, 60-54.

Three Spartan players scored in double-digits as Kane tallied a game-high 16 points with nine rebounds, two assists and two steals. Woodard added 14 points going 71.4 percent from the field and 57.1 percent from the charity stripe and forward Sheena Walton tossed in 11 more points for the Spartans.

Rollins will be back in action on Saturday, February 10 when they take on the Lynn Fighting Knights (13-9, 5-6) in the friendly confines of Warden Arena at 2:00 p.m. Tune into the action live at www.RollinsSports.com.
