CLEARWATER, Fla. (February 24, 2007) ' The
Rollins College softball team fell to the Florida Tech Panthers
(12-10) 3-2 in the first of two morning games at the Eckerd College
Invitational at the Eddie C. Moore Complex. The Tars (6-5) bounced
back with a win against No. 8 Le Moyne College 9-5.
In the first game of the day, the Tars were led by second
baseman Amanda DeFilippo who went 1-2 with an RBI. First baseman
Stacy Sanders also hit 2-4 on the morning, and leftfielder Jamie
Rausch hit 1-3, knocking in the second run for the Tars.
Against No. 8 Le Moyne College, Rollins got back on track
notching 16 hits on the afternoon. Third baseman Rachel Almengual
went 2-3 with two RBI, with Sanders going 1-4 with her second
homereun this season and two RBI. Rausch tallied her first homerun
of the season in the second inning. Shortstop Lauren Starcher also
went a stellar 4-4 with two RBI for the Tars.
The Tars will be back in action on Sunday, February 25, when
they play Eckerd College (2-4) at 11:30 a.m., followed by a 2:00
p.m. game against Le Moyne (0-3).
