CLEARWATER, Fla. (February 23, 2007) ' In their
first contest of the Eckerd College Invitational, Rollins handily
defeated Palm Beach Atlantic 4-0. Sophomore pitcher Nicole Anderson
held the Sailfish to only three hits with 11 strikeouts to bring
her record to 4-3 on the season.
Junior centerfielder Sherri Rabenold went 2-4 on the afternoon,
knocking in two RBI for the Tars. Power hitters Stacy Sanders and
Jamie Rausch both went 2-3, while senior second baseman Amanda
DeFilippo stunned Palm Beach Atlantic going 3-3 and scoring two
RBI.
Rollins scored two runs in the third inning and the other two
runs in the sixth. Right fielder Chelsea Gravini, shortstop Holly
Elliott and designated player Rebecca Bolinger were the only
Sailfish to notch hits off of Anderson's tremendous arm.
The Tars will be back in action tomorrow, February 24, when they
take on the Florida Tech Panthers at 9:00 a.m. at the Eckerd
College Invitational. At the completion of that game, Rollins will
then play Le Moyne College at 11:30 a.m.
