Rollins Blanks Short-Handed Palm Beach Atlantic

WINTER PARK, Fla. (February 17, 2007) ' The Rollins women's tennis team ran past a short-handed Palm Beach Atlantic squad 9-0 on Saturday for their second straight shutout of the season. The victory moves the Tars record to 3-0 on the young season.

Playing out of position in doubles, the Tars were still able to record two victories while winning the third by default. Allison Arof and Sonia Bernal defeated Natalie Aleman and Viviane Lebed 9-7 in No. 1 doubles while Silvia Frandji and Anastasiya Shevchenko took Katie Livesay and Tina Brown 8-1 in the No. 2 slot.

Tenth ranked Tasi Purcell was an easy 6-0, 6-2 winner over Aleman in the No. 1 singles match while Marnie Mahler took Lebed 6-0, 6-0 in the No. 2 position. Bernal posted a 6-0, 6-0 shutout over Livesay with Mia-Han Nguyen downing Tina Brown 6-4, 6-2 for her first collegiate victory.

The Rollins women's tennis team will hit the courts again on Wednesday, February 28 at Embry-Riddle with competition slated to begin at 3:30 p.m.
