No. 17 Rollins Starts Spring Season By Toppling Saint Leo

SAINT LEO, Fla. (February 14, 2007) ' The No. 17 Rollins men's tennis team began their spring season with a dominating 9-0 victory over the Saint Leo Lions on Wednesday afternoon at the SLU Tennis Center.

The Tars' No. 1 doubles team of Gustavo Carvalho and Jonathan Gomez defeated Neil Watson and Brandon Stacy of Saint Leo 8-1. In second seed action, Adrian Tan and Albin Hubscher ran past Anas Aldahoud and Gregory Strange 8-2. The No. 3 team of Pablo Seijo and Michael Schwartz unraveled Mohamad El Naamani and Mohammed Noorsumar 8-3.

Rollins put the match away as they took all six singles matches winning all of them in straight sets. No. 1 seed and 32nd ranked Tan took out Watson 6-1, 6-1 with Gomez overpowering Stacy 6-3, 6-1 in the No. 2 match. Carvalho, the No. 3 seed routed El Naamani 6-2, 6-1, and Hubscher won his match, sliding by Aldahoud 6-1, 7-5 in the No. 4 slot. Seijo won the No. 5 singles match handily over Noorsumar 6-0, 6-0 and Bill Rockwood defeated Michael DelPriore 6-3, 6-3 in the No. 6 position.

The Tars will be back in action again Saturday, February 17 when they take on non-conference opponents the Palm Beach Atlantic Sailfish (1-2) at 1:00 p.m.
