PENSACOLA, Fla. (February 11, 2007) ' Playing their third doubleheader in as many days, the Rollins softball team was swept by scores of 3-0 and 7-0 by the University of West Florida on Sunday to conclude the Gulf South/Sunshine State Conference Crossover.

Rachel Almengual led the Rollins bats, going 3-5 while Nicole Anderson and Ingrid Schumacher suffered the losses in the circle.

Rollins drops to 2-4 on the young season while the Argonauts improve to 6-0.

In the opener, Rollins' bats never heated up as the Tars were only able to record one hit in the 3-0 shutout. Rachel Almengaul was plunked in the first inning and flared a single to center in the seventh to represent Rollins' only base runner in the game. Anderson suffered the loss, allowing three runs, two earned, on four hits with seven strikeouts.

Rollins offense started to get going in game two, but couldn't build momentum and was again shutout, 7-0. The Argos blew the game open in the second as they took advantage of two Tars errors and plated five before tacking on runs in the fourth and fifth innings.

Almengaul went 2-3 to lead Rollins at the plate in game two while Sherri Rabenold produced a 2-4 evening. Ingrid Schumacher was pinned with the loss, surrendering seven hits and seven runs, but just two were earned. She also racked up five strikeouts.

Rollins will look to get back on track on Saturday, February 17 with a doubleheader at Benedict (S.C.). The first pitch for game one is slated for 1 p.m.
