PENSACOLA, Fla. (February 10, 2007) ' The Rollins softball team split a doubleheader with 12th ranked Alabama-Huntsville on Saturday, winning game one 4-1 and falling in game two 4-2. The games were played as part of the Gulf South/Sunshine State Crossover, hosted by West Florida in Pensacola.

Nicole Anderson was the game one winner, allowing four hits and one unearned run while fanning nine in seven innings. Sherri Rabenold provided the firepower, going 3-3 with two runs and two RBI, including a homerun. Ingrid Schumacher went 1-2 with a run score and an RBI on a solo homer for Rollins (2-2).

Anderson suffered the loss in game two, allowing two runs, one earned, on two hits in one and third innings of relief. Schumacher started for the Tars, throwing four and two thirds innings, allowing two and five hits. At the plate, Schumacher was 2-3 with a run scored on her second homerun of the day. Jamie Rausch and Meghan Shaw also had hits for the Tars.

The long ball got Rollins started in the opener as Rabenold's two run dinger in the third gave the Tars a quick 2-0 lead. Alabama-Huntsville (8-2) got one back in the fourth, but the Rollins sealed it up with runs in the fifth, on a Stacy Sanders RBI double, and sixth, on Schumacher's solo leadoff homer.

The Tars and Chargers played scoreless through the first four innings of game two until Marilyn Cooper connected on a two RBI double to right center to give UAH a 2-0 lead. The advantage ballooned to 4-0 in the sixth as Anna Parker knocked a two RBI double to right center.

Schumacher brought the Tars back into it with a blast over the fence in the seventh that scored Jamie Rausch, but that would be it for the Tars as they went down by a count of 4-1.

Rollins will compete in the third and final day of the GSC/SSC Crossover on Sunday, February 11 against host West Florida. Game one of the doubleheader is slated to begin at 3 p.m.
