LAS VEGAS, Nev. (December 18, 2007) ' Senior
Jonny Reibel had a banner night with a career-high 31 points as the
4th ranked Tars added another win to their unblemished season by
defeating the 6th ranked Drury University Panthers 88-76 at the Las
Vegas Desert Classic. The Tars move to 7-0, while the Panthers fall
to 7-1.
Reibel made his career-setting 31 points by going 9-16 from the
floor, 4-4 from long range and 9-10 from the free throw line.
Freshman Nick Wolf tallied his third double-double of the season
with 19 points and 16 boards. Junior Craig Reichel added 16 points
and was perfect from the charity stripe going 4-4. Shooting guard
Jeremy Sharpe scored in double-digits with 13 points and a career
high four assists on the afternoon.
The Tars were down by as many as eight with two minutes
remaining in the half. Points down the stretch by Reichel, Reibel
and Wolf cut the Panthers lead over the Tars to three (42-39).
Rollins came out firing in the beginning of the second half
jumping out to a 13 point lead over the Panthers with 12:40
remaining in the game. With five minutes left in the game, Reibel
came into action as he scored six of the Tars 12 points. Rollins
ended the battle of the undefeated with a 12 point margin over
Drury 88-76.
Two Panthers had double-figure points as guard Steven Gum
knocked down 20 and guard Adam White also put down 20 points and
eight rebounds.
The Tars (7-0) will be back in action tomorrow, December 19 when
they take on the Central Missouri State Mules (6-1) at 4:00 p.m.
