LAKELAND, Fla. (November 10, 2007) ' The
Rollins women's swim team opened up the 2007-08 dual meet season on
Saturday to a disappointing team result, but posted good early
season individual times. The Tars were unable to come up with a
victory and fell to rival Florida Southern 145.5-95.5.
Stephanie Posner was twice a runner-up for the Tars, posting a
time of 1:15.7 in the 100 yard breaststroke, the coming back in
2:42.03 in the 200 yard breaststroke, less than a second away from
victory. Ally Best held down the distance events for Rollins,
taking second in the 1000 yard freestyle in 11:37.67 and second in
the 500 yard freestyle in 5:20.28.
The day started with a second place finish by the 200 yard
medley relay team of Kim deLeon, Kelly Cuddihy, Brighton Springer
and Janice Haramis, who posted a time of 2:08.92. Cuddihy went on
to earn a runner-up finish in the 200 yard IM in 2:32.24.
Casey Shufelt took second in the 200 freestyle with a time of
2:09.57, Megan Mattingly was runner-up in the 200 yard butterfly in
2:37.26 and Tayler Marx was second in the 50 yard freestyle with a
time of 27.10. Shufelt, Best, Mattingly and Marx teamed to post a
time of 1:49.44 in a second place performance in the 200 yard
freestyle relay.
The Rollins swim teams will be back in the water on Saturday,
November 17 as they will host the University of Tampa at 1 p.m.
