WINTER PARK, Fla. (October 4, 2007) ' The Rollins women's soccer team put on a defensive display, allowing just three shots the entire game, in a 3-0 victory over Eckerd at Barker Family Stadium on Thursday night. The Tars improved to 6-5-1 overall and 2-2-1 in Sunshine State Conference play, and the Tritons dropped to 0-10, 0-4 with the loss.

After a scoreless first half, Rollins broke the tie with a goal by freshman midfielder Marie Sapper in the 47th minute. Sapper collected the rebound of a shot by junior midfielder Jessica Mooney, and she slid it by the keeper for the goal. Freshman forward Jessica Deese scored the next two for the Tars, with senior forward Jeri Ostuw assisting on the first and Sapper on the second. Deese is now tied for second on the team with five goals.

Rollins finished the game with 31 shots, 15 of which were on goal. Eckerd goalkeeper Cory Hawkins stopped 11 shots, but she could not hold the Tars off the board after shutting them out in the first half. The Rollins defense of junior Dana Merrill, sophomore Maia Ryan, and freshmen Julie Gatt and Meagan Thomas did not allow a shot on goal through the game's 90 minutes.

The Tars will return to SSC play in a road match at Florida Southern on Tuesday, October 9 at 7:00 p.m. Fans can listen to all the action live on the Tars Sports Network at www.RollinsSports.tv.
