WINTER PARK, Fla. (October 26, 2007) ' The Rollins women's soccer team defeated Lynn 2-1 on Friday night at Barker Family Stadium, and the victory clinched an appearance in next week's Sunshine State Conference Tournament for the Tars. Rollins will enter the postseason with an overall record of 9-7-1, and an SSC mark of 4-3-1 means the Tars will either be the fourth or fifth seed, depending on the result of other matches around the conference.

Senior forward Jeri Ostuw performed well in what may be the final home contest of her career, notching an assist on the game's first goal. Ostuw connected with freshman midfielder Leah Hirsch along the right sideline, and a through ball to freshman forward Jessica Deese led to a goal at the 57:08 mark. Deese moved into a tie for second place on the team with her sixth goal of the season. The game-winner came eight minutes later when Hirsch lofted a free kick from the left sideline over the goalkeeper and into the net.

Lynn got on the board in the 80th minute on a goal by Molly Anderson, her ninth of the season, from an assist by Kristina Garcia. The Fighting Knights kept fighting to the last second, as a shot by Kayla Doherty flew up and over the crossbar with five ticks left on the clock.

Freshman goalkeeper Stina Lykke Petersen stopped two shots for the Tars, while Natalie Feller tallied seven saves in goal for Lynn. Rollins led the shot count 16-6 and also held a corner kick advantage of 8-2.

Head Coach Tony Amato, the Rollins women's soccer all-time leader in wins, earned the 50th victory of his career in the game. Amato now stands at 50-33-5 in his five years at the helm.

Ostuw, the lone senior on the 2007 Rollins women's team, was recognized before the game for her four years of stellar play. Ostuw now ranks seventh in school history in goals (17), fifth in assists (15), and seventh in points (49).

The Tars will wait to see where they end up in the final standings of the 2007 season before proceeding to next week's SSC Tournament. If Rollins is the fourth seed, the Tars will host the fifth seed on Tuesday, October 30 at Barker Family Stadium. If the Tars finish fifth, they will go on the road for Tuesday's opening round match.
