WINTER PARK, Fla. (October 23, 2007) ' The
Rollins women's soccer team returned home after a three-game road
trip, and the Tars got back on the winning track with a 3-1 victory
over non-conference opponent Palm Beach Atlantic at Barker Family
Stadium on Tuesday night. Rollins improved to 8-7-1 overall with
the win, while the Sailfish dropped to 4-8-1 with the loss.
Freshman forward Chelsea Brady scored the first goal of the
match for the Tars in the 12th minute thanks to an assist from
freshman midfielder Leah Hirsch. The Tars extended their lead to
two with a goal at the 28:46 mark by freshman midfielder Nikki
Stutz off a corner kick by freshman forward Jessica Deese. Rollins
capped of its scoring with another assist by Deese, this time on a
goal by senior forward Jeri Ostuw. Deese extended her team lead
with her seventh and eighth assists.
Palm Beach Atlantic received its only goal from Jessica Rodriguez
in the 67th minute off an assist by Angela Kuhn.
Freshman goalkeeper Stina Lykke Petersen stopped three shots in
goal for the Tars, while Ashley Morrell tallied seven saves for
PBA.
The Tars out-shot their opponents 22-9 and also held a 6-0 corner
kick advantage.
Rollins will finish its regular season on Friday, October 26 at
Barker Family Stadium in a Sunshine State Conference match against
Lynn at 7:00 p.m. The Tars are fighting for an SSC Tournament
berth, as the top six teams in the conference advance to the
tournament and Rollins ranked fifth coming into today. Fans can
