SAINT LEO, Fla. (October 13, 2007) ' The
Rollins volleyball team lost the first match of the day against
West Georgia 3-1 (31-29, 12-30, 28-30, 25-30) and rebounded to win
the second match against Valdosta State 3-0 (30-25, 30-27, 30-25)
on Saturday afternoon at the Marion Bowman Activities Center.
In the first match, Christina Reinders led the offense with a
double-double of 19 kills and 10 digs, while Stephanie Nichols also
notched a double-double with 15 kills and 14 digs. Lorena Orlandini
added nine digs in the Tars' loss to the Wolves. Lacey Malarky
tallied 40 assists and Kim Cline had 12 digs.
West Georgia's (21-7) Andressa Martins registered 23 kills and
16 digs, and Jordan McDonald had 20 kills. Setter Micque Parker
checked in with 64 assists on the afternoon.
Rollins got back on track in the second match as Reinders once
again controlled the offense with 14 kills and eight digs, and
Nichols added 11 kills and 13 digs. Freshman setter Erin Wareham
notched 38 assists for the Tars.
Irene Hannan led the Blazers (9-18) with 14 kills and eight
digs, and Stephanie Kirrstetter had 11 kills and nine digs.
The Tars (14-11, 3-5) will be back in action on Wednesday,
October 17 when they travel to St. Petersburg to take on the Eckerd
College Tritons (17-6, 5-3) at 7:00 p.m. Live stats will be
