MELBOURNE, Fla. (October 1, 2007) ' In a game
full of driving rain and wind, the Rollins men's soccer team
battled Florida Tech to a 1-1 tie at Rick Stottler Field on Monday
afternoon.' The Tars now stand at 6-4-1 overall and 2-1-1 in
Sunshine State Conference play, while the Panthers' record is now
2-6-2, 1-2-1.
Sophomore defender Thomas Biddinger gave Rollins a 1-0 lead at
the 11:08 mark on a corner kick by junior midfielder Leslie Osei.'
On his seventh assist of the season, Osei knocked the ball into the
penalty area from the right corner, and Biddinger won the header to
score his second goal of the year.' The Panthers came back in the
19th minute to even the score at one.' Justin Williams served the
ball into the attacking zone, and Edward Oyarce collected the ball
and shot it past the keeper for the equalizer.
Sophomore goalkeeper Chris Cummings made four saves for Rollins
in his first career appearance, and FIT keeper Cory Collins matched
him with four saves of his own.
The Tars out-shot their opponents 20-8, although only five of
their shots were on frame.' Rollins also held an 8-1 corner kick
advantage.
Rollins will continue SSC play with a home match against Eckerd
