WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (January 3, 2007) ' In
its last game before returning to Sunshine State Conference play,
the Rollins women's basketball team defeated Palm Beach Atlantic
75-44 at Rubin Arena on Wednesday night.' The Tars improved to 9-2
with the win, and PBA dropped to 3-11.
Rollins was led on offense by senior forward Larissa McDonough
with 20 points.' The SSC Player of the Week from the previous week
shot 7-12 from the field and grabbed seven rebounds.' Sophomore
guard Jennifer Dyer added 16 points on 6-9 shooting, and she
starred on defense, notching five steals.' Rollins also received
significant contributions from junior forward Jennifer Catti (eight
points), sophomore forward Ines Teuma (seven points), and junior
guard Jennifer Musgrove (seven points, eight rebounds, two
steals).
The Sailfish received 11 points from JaLee Earls, and Earls also
dished out a game-high five assists.' Melissa Perez added eight
points, and Ashley Adkins did well on defense, notching a
team-leading four steals.
The Tars came out firing in the first half, when they shot 55.2%
from the field (16-29).' With 13:37 left in the first half, Rollins
held a commanding 22-2 lead.' Rollins would go on to lead by as
much as 22 in the first half, and the Tars finished with a
game-high 31-point lead.' The Tars tied their best shooting
performance of the season with a 50.0% field goal percentage.'
Rollins also made half of their three-point attempts (6-12) and
shot 65.0% from the free throw line (13-20).' PBA finished the game
30.8% from the field on 16-52 shooting.
Rollins returns to conference play on Saturday, January 6 when
they play host to Nova Southeastern.' The women's game will begin
at 2:00 p.m., and it will be followed by the men's game at 4:00
