WINTER PARK, Fla. (January 27, 2007) ' The
Rollins men's basketball team knocked off the Barry University
Buccaneers 63-38 on Saturday afternoon to stand alone atop the
Sunshine State Conference.
Two Tars scored in double-digits as Rollins ran past Barry.
Sophomore center Craig Reichel netted 19 points going six of 11
from the field and a perfect four for four from the charity stripe
with two blocks. Guard Kevin Hogan went 60 percent from the field
with 11 points and three assists.
Guards Jonny Reibel and John Thinnes both had eight points on
the afternoon with Reibel grabbing five rebounds and dishing out
six assists. Senior forward Isaac Codrey snatched a career-high 11
rebounds in the Tars' win over the Bucs.
In the first half, Rollins jumped out to a five point lead with
ten minutes left, 15-10. Senior Jordan Kolosey added four points
for the Tars giving them an 18 point lead going into the locker
room at halftime, 36-18.
The Tars outscored the Bucs 14-4 in points in the paint, 11-0 in
points off of turnovers, 3-0 in second chance points, 6-0 in fast
break points and 17-2 in points off the bench.
Going into the second half, the Tars (16-3, 7-1) kept rolling in
the opening seconds of the half with an immediate three-pointer
from Reichel making the score 39-18. Rollins kept their lead in
double-digits throughout the entire game with their largest lead
being 28 points. The No. 2 SSC ranked Barry Bucs forged a valiant
effort, but it was not enough as Rollins came out on top 63-38.
Barry (14-4, 6-2) was led by guard Phil Puccia who had 16 points
and three rebounds and guard Ryan Sanders tallied 12 points, four
assists and three rebounds.
The Tars will be back in action on Monday, January 29 when they
take on the Florida Southern Mocs (6-11, 2-5) at 7:30 p.m. at
Warden Arena. Rollins defeated the Moccasins 70-59 in Lakeland
earlier in the year, and the Tars will look to continue their
