BOCA RATON, Fla. (January 13, 2007) ' The
Rollins women's basketball team dominated conference rival Lynn
University 69-53 on Saturday evening at the de Hoernle Center. The
Tars (12-2, 4-0) remain undefeated in the Sunshine State Conference
as they notched their ninth straight overall victory this
season.
Rollins was led by guard Jennifer Dyer who tallied a career-high
20 points and added eight rebounds. She shot 43.7 percent (7-16)
from the field and 75 percent (6-8) from the charity stripe. Junior
guard Jennifer Musgrove also had a notable evening scoring a
double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Senior Larissa
McDonough added 11 points and six rebounds to the Tars' victory
over the Fighting Knights.
Only five minutes into the game, the Tars quickly built an eight
point lead over the Knights, 10-2. They kept that momentum going
into halftime with a 31-24 lead over Lynn. McDonough led the first
half scoring with seven points and five rebounds.
Dyer was on fire from the opening minutes of the second half,
hitting shots from all over the court. She had 14 points in the
second half to go along with the six from the first half. With five
minutes to go in the game, Rollins had an 11 point lead over Lynn,
55-44. The Fighting Knights would only have nine more points in the
game as the Tars marched onto their sixth straight road win.
Lynn (10-4, 2-2) was led by forward Rae Rae Fripp who had 11
points, four rebounds, one assist and one steal.
Rollins will take on another tough conference opponent in Saint
Leo (3-11, 1-3) on Wednesday, January 17 at 5:30 p.m. in Warden
Arena.
