THOMASVILLE, Ga. (September 10, 2006) ' The
Rollins women's soccer team got back to its winning ways on Sunday
with a 3-1 victory at Thomas University thanks to two goals and one
assist by Jennifer Dyer.
The win pushed the Tars' record up to 5-1 after a tough loss to
the University on West Florida on September 8.' The Night Hawks
dropped down to 2-4 with the loss.
Dyer's first goal came in the eighth minute of the game on a
header off a Lindsay Giblin cross.' The second goal for the Tars
came at the 14:07 mark; Dyer collected a loose ball at the top of
the penalty area with her back to the goal, and she was able to
turn on a defender and strike the ball in with her left foot.'
Rollins' third and final goal came well into the second half at the
74:09 mark, and Giblin was able to capitalize on passes from Dyer
and Jacquelyn Parsons on her way to her team-leading seventh score
of the season.' The lone goal for Thomas came on a free kick by
Night Hawks defender Naama Wolf at the 81:27 mark.
Dyer's two goals and one assist were her first points of the
season, giving her a total of five on the season.' Giblin's assist
was her fourth of the year, and Parsons' was her first.
Besides the one goal on a free kick by the Night Hawks, the
Rollins defense was outstanding.' The back line, led by Danielle
Martin, Dana Merrill, Ericka Mohr, Lindsay Taylor, and Alison
Tradd, allowed just two shots from Thomas.' The Night Hawks also
had only one corner kick attempt, compared to five for Rollins.
Senior goalkeeper Francesca Nicoloso saved one for the Tars, and
Brittany Wilkinson stopped nine shots for Thomas.
The Rollins women will continue non-conference play on September
14 when they play Embry-Riddle on the road.' Kickoff is scheduled
for 7:00 p.m.' Fans can listen to all the action live on www.RollinsSports.com.
