THOMASVILLE, Ga. (September 10, 2006) ' The seventh ranked Rollins men's soccer team defeated Thomas University 5-0 on the road on Sunday afternoon, and four different Tars (Dennis Chin, Thomas Makin, James Taylor, and German Vivas) scored in the game.

The win brought the Tars' record up to 5-1 on the year, and the Night Hawks fell to 1-4.

Chin knocked in the first goal of the game in the 18th minute.' The sophomore forward jumped on a rebound and sank it in the back of the net to put the Tars on the board.' The Thomas defense held tight for the rest of the first half, holding the Tars to eight shots.' The second half was a different story, as Rollins fired off 15 shots compared to just five for the Night Hawks.' Makin scored his first collegiate goal at the 66:14 mark on a header off a cross from Juan Kusnir.' The third goal of the game was knocked in by James Taylor from the right sideline.' Taylor threw the ball in to Jon Gruenewald in the midfield, and Gruenewald got the pass back to him on the outside for the one-touch drive.' The Tars scored their fourth of the game at the 78:09 mark on an own goal by the Night Hawks defense, and just 25 seconds Kusnir found Vivas in the box for the fifth and final goal.

Gruenewald and Kusnir had two assists each, which gives both of them three on the season.' Chin's goal was his fourth of the year, and Taylor's was his second.' Chin and Makin each had four shots in the game, Vivas had three, and Jack Clifford and Matthew Gowan each had two.' Jonathan Williams led the Night Hawks in shots with three, and D.P. Piniella finished with two.

Dana Singer picked up the shutout in his first start of the year in goal for the Tars, and he notched four saves on the day.' Andrew Madero started in goal for Thomas, and he saved six shots while allowing one goal.' Jan Feldman played the second half in goal for the Night Hawks, and he allowed four goals while saving six.

The Tars will return home for a non-conference match against Palm Beach Atlantic on September 16, and that game will start at 7:00 p.m.' Fans can listen to the action live at www.RollinsSports.com.
