VALDOSTA, Ga. (April 9, 2006) ' The No. 12 Rollins men's tennis
team held a 2-1 lead after doubles, but couldn't come up with the
needed wins in single play as they fell to No. 1 Valdosta State 6-3
on Sunday. On the season, Rollins has lost heartbreakers to seven
of Division II's top 10 teams, including falling to West Florida
when they were ranked No. 1 and Ouachita Baptist and Armstrong
Atlantic when they were ranked No. 2.

Rollins (9-10) took the top two doubles matches, including a big
upset in the No. 1 match. Carlos Custodio and Brian Compton, the
nation's 20 th ranked team, rolled on No. 7 Christoph Schneider and
Dominik Hansen 8-1. David Tafur and Jonathan Gomez won their third
straight match together, taking Leos Jelinek and Niko Overkemping
8-5 in the No. 2 position. The Blazers (18-0) got on the board in
the No. 3 match as Mickael Andreo and Thomas Provost downed Brian
Irvin and Adrian Tan 8-4.

Singles play was a different story, however, as Rollins was only
able to score one victory. Adrian Tan improved to a team best 12-6
on the year and scored an upset, defeating No. 24 Andreo 6-2, 6-0
in the No. 2 match. Compton and Overkamping went to three sets in
the in No. 5 position, but the Blazers came out on top 4-6, 6-2,
6-4.

Rollins returns to action on Tuesday, April 11 at Eckerd in their
last regular season match of the season. Competition is slated to
begin at 3 p.m.
