FT. LAUDERDALE, Fla. (April 29, 2006) ' Rollins fell behind early in both games and was never able to get rolling as they dropped a pair of Sunshine State Conference games to Nova Southeastern by scores of 10-4 and 7-4 on Saturday. The Tars (25-24; 5-16 SSC) starters were roughed up for 18 hits and 14 runs, but just eight were earned as Rollins was also banged for a combined seven errors in the games.

Jesse More led the Tars at the plate, going 4-7 with two RBI on the day. Stefano Foggi, Anthony Soto and Rob Cloar each tallied a pair of hits with Cloar notching three RBI and two runs scored. Shawn Langlois led Nova Southeastern (30-19; 11-10 SSC) at the plate, hitting 6-9 with an RBI and four runs scored.

Eduardo Chile took the game one loss, allowing seven runs on eight hits in 3.1 innings of work. Jon Spier tossed seven strong for the Sharks, scattering eight hits and four runs in the winning effort. Mario Lomabardo was tagged with the game two loss, scattering 10 hits and allowing seven runs, just one of which was earned, with three strikeouts. Lou Leo was the winner in relief, allowing one hit in three innings.

In the opener, Rollins quickly fell into a hole, surrendering five runs through the first three frames. The Sharks got two more in the fourth before the Tars bats woke up in the top of the fifth. Cloar lead off with a double down the leftfield line and advanced to third after a More bunt single. More was caught stealing before Eugene Martinez drew a walk, Gary Martoccio fouled out to the shortstop and Ryan McKenzie was plunked to put two on with two outs. Tars third baseman Gene Howard then blasted a two RBI double to right, making the score 5-2. Nova SE hung another run in their half of the inning, but Rollins got it back in the fifth as Brent Magnuson drew a lead off walk and scored on a More single. The Tars scored again in the seventh behind a Magnuson RBI single, but the damage had been done with Rollins falling 10-4.

Game two was marred by Rollins miscues as the Tars were banged for five errors in the seven inning contest. The Sharks cracked the board in the second, posting two runs on three hits and a Tars error and adding two more in the third.

Rollins knotted the score in their fourth with a four run, four hit explosion. Soto led off with a single and was brought home with a Cloar base knock. Ryan Maddern fired a single in the Tars next at bat and More kept the parade going with an RBI single that scored Steve Mannenbach and chased off Sharks starter Ross Cummings. Rollins then loaded the bases, but left ducks on the pond as the inning ended with the score tied 4-4.

The Sharks kept going in their half of the fourth, scoring two more and adding an insurance run in the sixth for the 7-4 victory and weekend sweep of the Tars.

Rollins returns home May 5-6 for their 2006 home finale against Sunshine State Conference foe Lynn. Game one of the three game series is slated for 7 p.m. on Friday, May 5 with Saturday's double header set for 1 p.m.
