WINTER PARK , Fla. (May 5, 2006) Stefano Foggi and Eugene Martinez
led the Rollins offense to a big comeback victory over the Lynn
University Fighting Knights, 11-7. The Tars (26-24, 6-16) snapped a
10 game conference losing streak with the win over the Knights
(32-20, 10-12). First baseman Stefano Foggi went 2-5 with a double
and drove in four runs and catcher Eugene Martinez was a perfect
4-4 with two RBI for the Tars.

The
Rollins offense was able to overcome a rough beginning by starter,
Eduardo Chile. Chile gave up two homers in the first inning, and
the Tars trailed 5-0. Rollins was able to counter in the next two
innings by cutting the deficit to one at 5-4. The Tars went up for
good with four more runs in the bottom of the fourth. They would
add a run in each of the next three innings, and went on to win
11-7. The Tars were able capitalize on four Lynn errors by plating
five unearned runs.

Junior shortstop Ryan McKenzie went 3-5 with three runs scored and
a RBI. Foggi went 2-5 with 4 RBI's. Catcher Eugene Martinez had a
career high four hits, going 4-4 with two RBI and a double. Gene
Howard and Jesse More also added RBI for the Tars. Rollins had 13
total hits in the game.

Eduardo Chile struggled out of the gate but regained his composure
and kept the Tars in the game in the later innings. Chile gutted it
out on the mound, throwing 131 pitches on the night in 6.2 innings
worth of work. The senior right-hander struck out nine and gave up
seven runs on nine hits. Freshman reliever, Michael Eppich,
finished off the final 2.1 innings giving up just one hit, while
striking out two en route to his first collegiate save.

The
Tars will be back in action on Saturday May 6, for a double-header
against Lynn University . First pitch is scheduled for 1 pm.
Saturday will also be senior day for the Tars, as the team will be
honoring its three seniors: Eduardo Chile, Rob Cloar and Brent
Magnuson.

The Tars also honored
former coaching legend, the late Boyd Coffie, with a moment of
silence on Friday night. The Tars' all-time leader in coaching
wins, died May 2, succumbing to throat cancer. Rollins is honoring
Coffie by wearing his retired number, 1, on their hats and also
have the coach's retired jersey etched along the third base
line.
