Tars Back To Winning Ways With Drubbing Over Cal Poly

TARS BACK TO WINNING WAYS WITH DRUBBING OVER CAL POLY POMONA

POMONA, Calif. (March 7, 2006) ' The Rollins men's tennis team got back to their winning ways on Tuesday, defeating Cal Poly Pomona 9-0. The Tars (5-6) played with a shuffled line-up and cruised to straight set victories in every match, one day after having all of their singles matches against UC-San Diego go to three sets.

Carlos Custodio and Adrian Tan teamed to win the No. 1 doubles match 8-3 over Sebastian Torres and Dustin Andolsen. Jonathan Gomez and David Tafur defeated Eric Carlstrom and Dan Evangelista 8-3 in the No. 2 match and the brothers Compton (Brian and Mike) won the No. 3 position 8-2 over Saverdra and Tran.

Tan moved up to the No. 1 doubles position and downed Torres 6-2, 6-2. Gomez took Tran 6-3, 6-1 in the No. 2 match with Brian Compton winning 6-1, 6-2 over Andolsen at No. 3. Michael Schwartz was a winner in the No. 4 match over Carlstrom 6-2, 6-0, Brian Irvin took the No. 5 slot over Evangelista 6-2, 6-0 with Mike Compton defeating Saaverdra 6-3, 6-1 in the No. 6 match.

The Tars will complete their spring break trip on Thursday, March 9 against Fresno Pacific at UC-San Diego
