(March 8, 2006) ' The Rollins men's tennis team ended their spring
break, West Coast swing with a whirlwind 5-4 win over Fresno
Pacific on Wednesday at UC-San Diego. Rollins took two doubles
matches and split singles competition to improve their record to
6-6 on the year.

The
Tars entered the contest ranked eighth in NCAA Division II with
Fresno Pacific checking in at #10 in NAIA.

Carlos Custodio and Brian Compton downed Matt Carroll and Marco
Foelz 8-4 in the No. 1 doubles match to lead a shuffled Rollins
line-up. Jonathan Gomez and Michael Schwartz teamed to take Greg
Jackson and Petr Sitnikov 8-2 in the No. 2 match with Victor Medina
and Anthony Zafiris winning the No. 2 match for Fresno by a score
of 8-6 over Adrian Tan and David Tafur.

Custodio took Caroll 7-5, 5-7, 6-4 in the No. 1 singles match while
Gomez also won a three set battle, downing Zafiris 3-6, 7-6, 6-3 in
the No. 3 match. Adrian Tan made quick work of Sitnikov in the No.
2 match, winning 7-5, 6-3. Foelz won 6-3, 7-5 over Tafur in the No.
4 match, Median took Brian Compton 7-6, 6-1 in the No. 5 match and
Roberto Bianco defeated Albin Hubscher 6-4, 6-3 in the No. 6
position.

Rollins will take a much-deserved breather before taking hosting
Florida Tech in a Sunshine State Conference match on Saturday,
March 18 with competition set for Noon.
