JOLLA, Calif. (March 7, 2006) ' Rollins got their spring break trip
started on the wrong foot as they fell to the University of
California-San Diego 6-3 on Monday. The loss drops the eighth
ranked Tars record to 4-6 on the year while the 14 th ranked
Tritons improve to 3-6.

Rollins was turned back in all three doubles matches with the team
of Carlos Custodio and David Tafur coming up just short in the No.
1 match, falling to Blake Meister and Erik Oijala 9-7. UCSD's Brent
Molden and Steven Oechel downed Jonothan Gomez and Brian Compton
8-5 in the No. 2 match while Kazumi Negishi and Eric Rubens took
Brian Irvin and Adrian Tan 8-4 in No. 3 doubles.

Amazingly, all six singles matches went to three sets with the Tars
and Tritions splitting at three apiece. Nineteenth ranked Carols
Custodio took #40 Brent Molden 2-6, 6-2, 6-0 in the No. 1 match
with Jonathan Gomez downing Erik Oijala 6-7, 6-4, 6-4 in the No. 4
match. Albin Hubscher picked up a victory for the Tars in the No. 6
singles position, winning 6-2, 4-6, 6-4 over Ramesh Thondapu.

Rollins continues their spring break, West Coast swing on Tuesday,
March 7 at Cal Poly Pomona.
