KISSIMMEE, Fla. (March 19, 2006) ' With a trip to Kissimmee, Fla. and the Rebel games on the agenda for Sunday for the Rollins College Softball team, the team split the two games, defeating Southern New Hampshire 13-2 and then falling 1-0 to Northwest Missouri State. The Tars are now 28-5 on the season.

'

In game one, the Tars exploded for 12 hits and 13 runs on Southern New Hampshire, a team that was playing only the second game of their season. Sophomore Ingrid Schumacher (Naples, Fla.) led the Tars, going 3-4 with one RBI and two runs scored. Senior Kelly Cruz (Winter Springs, Fla.) and juniors Victoria Rudolph (Titusville, Fla.) and Amanda DeFilippo (Winter Springs, Fla.) all had two hits in the game, with Rudolph and DeFilippo picking up three RBI as well. Sophomore Rachel Almengual (Odessa, Fla.) also had three RBI in the game, as she went 1-2 with two runs scored. Sophomore Jennifer Olsen (Winter Haven, Fla.) walked four times and scored three of the Tars' runs. Freshman Rachel Brenneman (Cheshire, Conn.) was in the circle for the Tars where she allowed five hits and two runs while striking out 11 en route to her fourth win of the season.

'

The second game of the day for the Tars was a different story, as Rollins and Northwest Missouri both went scoreless through six innings, and it took a mistake by the Tars for the Bearcats to grab the 1-0 victory.

'

Freshman Nicole Anderson (Brandon, Fla.) had another fine evening in the circle, giving up only four hits and no walks while striking out five. On the mound for the Bearcats, Kelly Morris pitched all seven innings, surrendering five hits to the Tars.

'

The two teams headed into the seventh inning scoreless and with two outs, Janelle Krohn knocked a double to right field. The next batter, Sarah Johnson sent a bouncer to the shortstop Cruz, who miss played the ball, allowing it to roll into center field. Krohn rounded the bases and scored the lone run of the game. The Tars came to bat in the bottom of the seventh with a chance to go ahead or tie, but Morris sat the Tar batters down in order.

'

Rollins will look to rebound from the loss as they host Southern Arkansas on Monday, March 20 at Lake Island Park. First pitch of the double header is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
