WINTER PARK, Fla. (February 7, 2006) ' Every Rollins player in uniform scored at least three points as the Tars rolled up their eighth straight victory with a 91-55 non-conference thrashing of Palm Beach Atlantic. The victory sets up a huge Sunshine State Conference match-up between Lynn University and Rollins, the two teams tied atop the SSC standings, in Boca Raton on Saturday.

'

Tuesday it was all Rollins (17-5) as three players reached double figures, led by sophomore Kevin Hogan with 15 off the bench. The small forward shot 5-10 from the floor, including a 3-5 mark from three-point range, while also grabbing four boards. Fellow reserve Isaac Codrey added 14 points and four rebounds with Jon Smith netting 13 and John Thinnes scoring 10.

'

The Sailfish (4-21) were paced by Sean Tucker and Chris Davis who each tallied 11 points while Derek Barnes added 10. Spencer Foreman was tough on the boards, snagging a game high 11 to go along with eight points. PBA out rebounded host Rollins 16-5 on the offensive end and held a 40-35 rebounding edge on the night. '

'

The game all came down to shooting as Rollins shot 46.4 percent in the first half and 66.7 percent in the second half (56.4 percent for the game) while the Sailfish connected on just 17.6 percent in the first period and 48.4 percent in the second half (32.3 percent for the game).

'

The Tars defense shined bright right from the tip as the hosts jumped out to a 16-2 lead over the first eight minutes, forcing six PBA turnovers during the span. Barnes nailed a three with 10:56 remaining to make the score 16-5, but Rollins crashed the offensive glass and went on a 13-4 run to take a 29-9 lead. As the clock ticked to under two minutes, Jonny Reibel drained a long ball to boost the Tars advantage to 27 points. That would be the Tars last bucket of the half as Palm Beach Atlantic ended the period on a 7-0 run to made the score 40-20 at the break.

'

After a very fast paced and start to the second half, the Tars settled down in their offense and took a 33 point lead at 76-43, punctuated with a Codrey dunk at the seven minute mark. The bench then took over and brought it home for the Tars eighth straight victory.

'

The Tars next game will be for Sunshine State Conference supremacy, as Rollins will travel to Lynn in a battle between the two schools tied atop the conference. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. in Boca Raton.
