WINTER PARK, Fla. (February 15, 2006) ' The
Rollins College women's basketball team (23-0, 13-0 SSC) kept their
undefeated streak alive on Wednesday evening as they defeated the
University of Tampa 63-46. It was a real team effort as four Tars
scored in double figures, led by sophomore guard Jennifer Musgrove, with a career high 20 points. With the victory,
the Tars assure themselves of at least a share of the Sunshine
State Conference championship with three regular season games
remaining on their schedule.

The Tars were playing without their second
leading scorer, junior forward Larissa McDonough
(Ormond Beach, Fla.), who is sidelined
with a fractured wrist. McDonough, who was averaging 14.1 points
and 6.1 rebounds a game, will miss the remainder of the regular
season, but hopes to return for the post-season. In the absence of
McDonough, the rest of the team picked up their games to pull out
the 17 point victory over the second place Spartans. Senior
forward Randi Weiss (Kissimmee, Fla.) was 4-8 from the field and 2-2
from the charity stripe for 12 points while senior forward
Joslyn Giles (Winter Haven, Fla.) and freshman guard Jennifer Dyer (Wake Forest, N.C.) both added 10 points apiece.
Giles also grabbed 10 rebounds for her fifth double-double of the
season. With her third point in the game, Giles became the 17th
Rollins women's basketball player to reach 1,000 points in her
career.

Tampa (18-6, 10-3), sophomore center Shaneisha Walton torched the
Tars defense for 27 points on 12-18 shooting from the field. She
also finished with a game high 13 rebounds and three blocks.
'
In the first half, both teams struggled to
find the basket with Rollins shooting 35 percent while holding the
Spartans to 23 percent. Giles scored her third point of the game
from the free throw line to put the Tars up 3-0, 2:40 into the
contest, to secure her 1,000 th career point. The game was tied
10-10 with 6:46 remaining in the half when Musgrove (Palm Bay,
Fla.) hit two consecutive treys to put the Tars up by six. The
visitors then went on an 8-0 run to take an 18-16 lead. Freshman
guard Jessica Barker (Orange City, Fla.) then hit a three-pointer from
the right corner and Weiss connected on two free throws with a
second remaining on the clock, as the Tars took a 21-18 lead into
the break.
