WINTER PARK, Fla. (February 13, 2006) ' Seventh ranked Rollins
split singles, but were swept in the doubles competition as fourth
ranked West Florida scored a 6-3 win over the Tars on Monday.
Marnie Mahler, Anastasiya Shevchenko, and Cassie Webster each
scored singles wins for Rollins. The Tars fall to 1-2 on the season
while UWF improves to 3-0.

The
Argonauts dominated doubles, winning each of the three matches
handily. Fifth ranked Suzanna Cavalcante and Anne Clare Beard
downed seventh ranked Tasi Purcell and Marnie Mahler 8-1 in the No.
1 doubles match. Tammy Kevey and Mandy Septoe downed Sonia Bernal
and Shevchenko 8-2 in the No. 2 match with Paola Avevalo and
Miranda Dutra making it a UWF sweep, defeating Cassie Webster and
Silvia Frandji 8-0 at No. 3 doubles.

Mahler, ranked 42 nd in the nation, took the No. 2 singles match
6-4, 4-1, default over Kevey with Shevchenko winning at the No. 4
position 6-4, 7-6(1) for the Tars. Webster gave Rollins their third
point with a 1-6, 6-4 (10-2) victory at No. 6 singles.

Fifteenth ranked Purcell fell to third ranked Cavalcante 6-1, 6-0
in the No. 1 match with Septo downing Bernal 6-2, 6-4 in the No. 3
position for the Argos. The No. 5 match was won by Arevalo, who
took Frandji 6-3, 6-1.

The
Rollins women's tennis team will host Embry-Riddle on Wednesday,
February 15 with play set to begin at 2:30 p.m.
