Tasi Purcell Batista

Tasi has been involved with the game of tennis for over 20 years. She started playing tennis at the age of nine, and started competing in junior tournaments at the age of ten. At age twelve, Tasi captured the Florida State Championship Title, and went on to play varsity tennis at Dr. Phillips High School in the No. 1 position for three years. After graduating high school, she went on to accept a full tennis scholarship to play for Rollins College. 
Tasi became one of the most decorated players in Rollins Women's Tennis history. She was a three-time ITA All-American, and was also named All-Sunshine State Conference in each of her four years in Winter Park. To start her college career, she was named SSC Freshman Player of the Year, and to end it, she was named SSC Player of the Year as a senior. In 2006, Tasi was the national recipient for the Arthur Ashe Award for Leadership and Sportsmanship, one of the top honors a collegiate tennis player can receive. Most recently, Tasi was inducted into the Rollins College Sports Hall of Fame as a member of the Class of 2017. 
She joined Tars Hall of Fame coach Bev Buckley as an assistant during the 2017-18 season, and was named head coach of the Tars in 2024. In her first season, she helped sophomore Nancy Liu earn 2nd Team All-SSC and ITA All-American honors while leading the Tars to a 12-8 record.
