Katie Nimitz

Assistant Coach Katie Nimitz is entering her first season at Rollins College in 2023, where her primary duties will be the training, development, and mentorship of the program's goalkeepers. Nimitz brings extensive experience in defending and goalkeeping and has worked with various NCAA Division I and II programs. 

Nimitz joins the program after her most recent stint as an assistant coach at Army West Point during the 2022 season. 

In one season coaching at Army West Point, Nimitz helped the Black Knights improve almost every single defensive statistic. Under Nimitz's guidance during the 2022 season, the Black Knights allowed just 15 goals (26 in 2021), earned 10 shutouts (Two in 2021), increased the shutout percentage to 0.50 (0.11 in 2021), improved the goals against average to 0.75 (1.37 in 2021), and increased save percentage to 0.83 (0.74 in 2021). During this run the Black Knight's earned the Patriot League regular-season title and were Patriot League Tournament Runners Up. Nimitz coached several Black Knights that were recognized for their efforts on the field including two United Soccer Coaches All-Region team players, the Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year, and six All-Patriot League team players. Sophomore goalkeeper, Sage Strohman, received Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Week recognition during the season and was one of the players named to an All-Patriot League team. 

Prior to her time at Army West Point, Nimitz worked at the University of Florida during the 2021 season as a volunteer/goalkeeper coach. While with the Gators, she coached the program's keepers to a 0.71 save percentage and 96 saves (first in the SEC). 

During the 2019 season, Nimitz was an assistant coach at Western Kentucky University. Nimitz led the goalkeepers to seven shutouts and a save percentage of 0.78.  
 
Prior to her stint with the Hilltoppers, Nimitz spent the 2017 and 2018 seasons as Quincy University's graduate assistant coach. During the 2017 season, the Hawks finished 17-4-1, won the Great Lakes Valley Conference regular-season title, were the Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament Runners Up, earned 13 shutouts, and allowed just 17 goals. Quincy advanced to the NCAA Division II Tournament Round of 16 and finished No. 11 in the country in the final poll of the 2017 season. Nimitz coached numerous individuals that earned recognition including two All-American players, four All-Region team players, and six All-GLVC team players. Nimitz was a part of the coaching staff at Quincy that earned 2017 NCAA Division II Regional Coaching Staff of the Year recognition from the United Soccer Coaches Association.
 
Nimitz holds a United Soccer Coaches Association Advanced National Goalkeeping Diploma and USSF "D" license. She received her bachelor's degree in elementary education in 2017 and a master's in educational leadership from Quincy University in 2019. Nimitz is also the Vice President of Mentorship with MyJourney Technologies and the Director of MyJourney Soccer, a mobile app co-founded by Alex Morgan.
