Biography


Two-year member of the Tars women’s golf team who has been a catalyst to Rollins’ continued success. 

2009-10: Played in all 33 rounds of the Tars season, posting a stroke average of 77.30 and low round of 71. Began her first full season with Rollins in a big way, finishing sixth or better in each of the Tars first four tournaments. Shot rounds of 75-76 to finish tied for sixth at the Princeton Invitational. Opened the Penn State Nittany Lion Women’s Invitational with a one-under par 71 and followed with rounds of 74-77 to take fifth place of 90 competitors. Finished the fall slate strong, tying for fourth (74-73) at the NSU Shark Invitational and taking third (75-75-72) at Rollins’ Ross Resorts Invitational- Mid Pines. Started the spring, championship season with a T12 finish at the Tusculm/Kiawah Island Intercollegiate, followed by a fifth-place finish at the Florida Southern/Lady Moc Invitational. After three-straight events finishing out of the top-20, came back to post a 12th place finish at the SSC Championships with rounds of 79-75-73. Tied for 37th at the NCAA South Region Championships and was T21st at the National Championships, carding scores of 79-80-75-75. Earned a spot as Second Team All-Sunshine State Conference. 

2008-09: Posted a 77.20 stroke average in 24 rounds for the Tars with three top-10’s and one top-five finish. Began the year with two rounds of 74 to tie for eighth at the Kiawah Island Intercollegiate. Turned in a season best 73 in the first round of the Sunshine State Conference Tournament en route to a fifth place finish. Tied for 15th at the NCAA National Championship Tournament. 

At Shorter: Named first team NAIA All-America in 2008. Finished in the top-10 in all 11 Hawks tournaments with 10 top-5 finishes and six victories. Earned a 75.28 scoring average in 25 rounds. Posted a low round of 68 at the Stonebridge Invitational and fired five rounds of par or better on the year. Finished tied for 9th at the NAIA Women’s Championships. 

Personal: born 9/6/88...parents Edelmira Alvarez and Harvey Vargas...Sisters Eileen Vargas and Paola Vargas...Eileen played golf at Pepperdine and is currently on the DURAMED/Futures Tour...lists The Notebook as her favorite movie...majoring in International Business...after graduation, would like to become a professional golfer.
