Veteran for theTars who will enter his fourth year on the team in 2010. 

2009-10: Played in one singles match for the Tars, recording a 6-2, 7-5 win at the No. 5 position over Dane Rasmussen of Augustana. In the fall, earned a first round bye in singles play before falling in a second round match. Teamed with Andrew Johnson in doubles play and were defeated in the first round. 

2008-09: Went 1-1 in singles play in the spring season, both at the No. 6 position. Suffered his lone setback in a SSC match against Eckerd and later picked up a shutout victory in road SSC contests against Saint Leo. 

2007-07: Saw action in one match as a freshman, winning 6-0, 6-1 at the No. 6 position against Bentley. 

High School: Ely was a four year letterwinner at Kent Denver High School. He was the team MVP his junior and senior year and was named to the All-State team during his senior year. His team was state champions in 2003 and 2004 and Ely was a state champion at No. 3 singles.
