Biography

Veteran who will enter his fourth year with the Tars in 2010-11. 

2009-10: Saw action in two competitions, easily winning both contests. Won at No. 6, 6-1, 6-1 against Philadelphia University and picked up a win at No. 4 against Augustana. Played at the C.L. Varner Memorial Invitational and ITA South Region Championships, dropping first two singles matches of the Varner and was bounced out of the ITA in the second round. Also an excellent student, was named ITA All-America Scholar. 

2008-09: Played significant time in the spring season, posting a record of 10-4, including a 2-1 mark in Sunshine State Conference play. Hung marks of 1-0 at No. 4, 2-0 at No. 5 and 7-4 at No. 6. Put together a string of five straight victories at one point in the season. Was on the Tars’ Sunshine State Conference Tournament and NCAA Championships line-up. In the fall, saw action at the C.L. Varner Memorial Tournament, falling in his first round match in singles and teaming with Graham Ely to advance to the second round in doubles. 

2007-08: As a freshman, went 0-3 in singles play and 0-1 in doubles action. Played one regular season match, but earned a spot on the Tars SSC line-up, playing opposite two ranked teams. In doubles, teamed with Albin Hubscher in the SSC Tournament. 

High School: Was one of the top 40 juniors in the UK...Played in Nationals...U18 country champion.

Personal: Born 7/24/89...Son of Rachel and Ian Johnson...Majoring in Economics.
