BASE Szczerba head shot

Patrick Szczerba

Assistant Coach since: 2016-17

Patrick Szczerba joined the Tars prior to the 2017 season as pitching coach and recruiting coordinator.

The Rollins pitching staff has made significant strides under the tutelage of Szczerba. Since joining the coaching staff, five Tars pitchers have been selected in the MLB amateur draft, including Brad Case in 2018 and Garrett Leonard, Jimmy Robbins, Whit Drennan, and Cameron Enck in 2019. In addition, Brian Auerbach '17 and Anthony Trovato '18 signed free agent deals to play professionally.

In his first season as pitching coach in 2017, Szczerba helped place three Tars (Brad Case-1st, Caleb Jakes-2nd, AJ Chacon-2nd) on the All-SSC team. Jimmy Robbins joined the list in 2019 as a 2nd team selection. Jaylyn Whitehead was the fifth pitcher to make the list when he earned a first-team selection in 2021 and 2022. Whitehead was also named the SSC Pitcher of the Year, South Region Pitcher of the Year, and a 1st-Team All-American in 2022. During the Tars' storybook run to the National Championship in 2023, Edward Berry (1st) and Nick Berger (2nd) earned All-SSC honors. In 2024, Berger elevated himself to 1st team All-SSC while Ryan Furey garnered a 2nd team nod. Berger continued the trend with another 2nd team selection in 2025.
