Late Goal Salvages Draw Versus Saints

Rollins and Flagler tied 2-2 on Tuesday evening

WINTER PARK, Fla. (September 1, 2026) - Rollins was able to fight back from a 2-0 deficit to salvage a 2-2 draw against the Flagler Saints on Tuesday evening. The Tars now stand at 2-0-1 while the Saints are 0-0-2.

The last time these two teams saw each other was in the third round of last year's NCAA playoffs, a game that saw Rollins end Flagler's season with a 2-0 win. The Saints were clearly motivated from the start in this one, dominating time of possession and playing a physical game.

It did not take long for Flagler to find the net. On their opening possession, Daniel Freire found himself alone on the near sideline, and delivered a through ball to Tim Wahlborg, who smashed it home for a goal 45 seconds into the match.

After twenty minutes of intense back-and-forth, the Saints struck again. Wahlborg found himself on the baseline, and took a shot that was saved by Kilian Vallant. However, the rebound went back to Wahlborg, who was able to float it in over the keeper to extend the lead to 2-0.

Rollins received a big boost in the 30th minute when Henry Okenla was given two yellow cards and an ejection after checking into the game just one minute before.

Playing a man up, and looking for a spark, head coach Keith Buckley put Tolu Junaid into the game with ten minutes left in the half. With under a minute to go, Junaid found space on a nice pass from Pablo Herrero. His initial strike was stopped by the Flagler keeper, but he was able to track down the loose ball and send it home to cut the lead in half.

Rollins turned up the heat in the second half, dominating possession as they were relentless in their attack. Pedro Lameiras just missed an equalizer goal when his shot hit the crossbar in the 60th minute. As time continued to tick down, the Tars started playing recklessly, earning three yellow cards int he second half.

With less than five minutes to go, a clearance from Flagler was misplayed, allowing Finlay Prain to pick up the ball and take off. After working around two defenders, he unleashed a screamer into the top of the net to tie the game with 3:30 to play.

Each team ahd one final shot on target, but both were saved, leading to a 2-2 draw.

Prain has now scored in all three games this season. A total of 37 fouls were called in the match.

Rollins will have some time off before hosting Embry-Riddle in a non-SSC matchup on Wednesday September 9 at 6pm in Winter Park.
