Offense Stays Hot in Win Over Tritons

Rollins defeated Eckerd 21-4 on Saturday afternoon

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (April 25, 2026) - For the second straight day, the Rollins offense was absolutely cooking in their road series at Eckerd. Behind 22 hits, the Tars defeated the Tritons 21-4 to move to 29-12, 19-7 SSC on the year. Eckerd drops to 28-13, 16-7 SSC.

Rollins go the party started with a two-out rally in the first. With Collin Hughes on second, Jayden Brown went big fly to center for his fifth home run of the year. Connor O'Sullivan then laced a triple to center, and was brought in on a single from Matthew Mateo to make it 3-0.

The Tars added a fourth run in the second on a sac fly from Hughes that plated Mauri Bejarano. Eckerd got one run back in the bottom half with a two-out single.

Incredibly, Rollins was held scoreless in the third. They more than made up for it in the fourth though. Eleven batters went to the plate in the inning, collecting six hits while driving in six runs. Bejarano had the only extra base hit of the inning, a double, before he scored on a Michael Furry base hit. After the madness, it was 9-1.

After a scoreless frame from Brett Dennis in the fourth, he received more run support in the fifth when Joey Rubin cleared the left field fence for a two-run blast, scoring himself and Bejarano. The Tritons responded with their biggest inning of the game, as they scored three times on three hits and an error.

Rollins did not score in the sixth, but O'Sullivan did collect his second triple of the game. In the seventh, two more runs were added thanks to a Brown RBI single through the right side and a a throwing error. Dennis worked another scoreless frame in the seventh to wrap up his outing.

The Tars made a slew of substitutions in the eighth inning, allowing their bench guys to get in on the fun. It was another circus of an inning as Rollins sent another twelve men to bat. This time, seven runs were scored on four hits, two errors, four walks, and a wild pitch.

A final run came into score in the ninth when Bejarano, who had doubled to lead off the inning, touched home on a double from AJ Barrios. Ryan Taylor then closed out the game with a scoreless ninth.

For the second straight game, every starter had at least one hit and one run scored. Connor O'Sullivan is the first Tar with two triples in a game since Nick Breen against Claflin on February 20, 2016. Bejarano had the game of his life batting from the nine-hole. He went 4-5 with two doubles, a walk, a stolen base, and a career-high five runs scored. He is the first Tar since Joey Rubin on April 29, 2023 against Florida Southern to score five times in a game. Speaking of, Rubin slugged like a cleanup hitter from the leadoff spot in this one, going 3-6 with two doubles, a home run, two runs scored, and four RBI.

These two teams will match up one more time on Sunday with first pitch coming at noon from the Turley Athletic Complex.
