SIRA Racing Preps Tars for SSC

Oak Ridge, Tenn. – Rollins women's rowing wrapped up competition at the 2026 SIRA Championships, using the weekend as a key tune-up ahead of the Sunshine State Conference Championships this Friday.
The Tars competed in both the Varsity 8 and Varsity 4, with each boat racing three times against a strong Division I field. Across the weekend, Rollins showed steady improvement, putting together stronger pieces with each race.

In the Varsity 4, Rollins entered two boats in the event. The A boat placed 11th overall after competing in the petite final, finishing just six seconds behind SSC rival Tampa's A boat, a matchup that will carry added significance into conference racing. The B boat placed 13th, earning a win over Tampa's B entry in the second-level final. Rollins also posted a faster time than Barry in Sunday's final after narrowly missing the grand final to the Buccaneers earlier in the weekend. Louisville, Kansas State, and Jacksonville claimed the top three spots in the event.

"These two Rollins 4s have been pushing each other daily in preparation for SSCs," said head coach Thompson. "It's great to see the progress of these boats, and this group as a whole has a great TEAM concept as they continue towards their goal of earning an NCAA bid."

In the Varsity 8, Rollins finished ninth overall, placing third in the second-level final behind Stetson and Dayton. Louisville, Jacksonville, and Vanderbilt took the top three spots in the A final.

Rollins now turns its focus to the SSC Championships in Sarasota, where the Tars will compete in the Varsity 8 and Varsity 4 events on Friday morning
