Tars Drop Initial Match of Busy Week

Rollins fell to Lynn Monday morning. The loss puts the Tars at 12-6 overall

WINTER PARK, Fla. (April 13, 2026) – The Tars launched a busy week with a Monday morning conference bout with the Lynn Fighting Knights. The visitors captured the doubles point and ultimately nabbed each singles court to follow, clinching the match via a sweep.

Monday broke a long layoff for Rollins. Having not played in twelve days; the Tars endured the longest stretch of the regular season without a match prior to doubles action getting underway. Lynn, meanwhile, was coming off a narrow 3-4 defeat less than twenty-four hours ago at the hands of Embry-Riddle. Today, the visitors showed no signs of wear. The Fighting Knights secured each doubles court to earn the first mover advantage. The closest margin was found on court three, where seniors Milla Falster and Sydney Eckstein traded blows with their counterparts before a 5-7 defeat.

Eckstein was a fighter all day. The four-year veteran once again added to the best statistical year of her career with a victory in set number one. After dropping the middle decision, the Bali native endured a joust that would have any tennis fan on the edge of their seat. Even those outside of the sport would have appreciated her clash on court six that yielded a slight 11-13 margin. Eckstein and her fellow competitor had played a first to ten-point tiebreak to decide the match, but inevitably the pair needed extra tennis to decide things. In the end, Lynn nabbed the point, capping their day after sealing victories on the former courts also.

Lorin Tilipman played herself into additional tennis from court four as well. Similarly to Eckstein, Tilipman found herself in a first to ten tiebreak set with all other courts already decided. While the sophomore had previous success in extra match play, shuffling to a 7-6 win in the opening set, Tilipman would succumb to a third set defeat in tight fashion, 7-10.

Lynn was able to grab all other courts in straight set variety, putting a cap on the day. That does not, however, put a cap on the opportunity the Tars have this week.

"Tomorrow is a new day," remarked the team's leader Tasi Purcell Batista. And it certainly provides an amazing occasion for Rollins to overcome today's setback.

A 2pm start ties a bow on the SSC slate when Nova Southeastern stops in town. The top five foe provides a shot at a fourth ranked win and sixth conference conquest for Rollins. That mark has not been reached in league since 2018.
