WINTER PARK, Fla. (March 27, 2026) - It was a beautiful day in Winter Park, with bright, blue skies, a light breeze, and a dominant effort from
Noah Greenseid on the mound that led to a 5-0 win over Lynn. The Tars move to 19-7, 10-3 SSC on the year while the Fighting Knights drop to 13-15, 3-7 SSC.
After the Knights went down in order in the first, Rollins had a great opportunity with runners on first and third with one out, but they could not come through with a run. Another perfect frame from Greenseid in the second gave the Tars a second chance, and they got on the board in the bottom half. With two outs,
Jayden Brown singled. Next up was
Stephen Deans, who lifted a flyball to the right-center gap. There was confusion in the outfield, and a dropped ball allowed Brown to come all the way around to score.
Greenseid continued his dominance with perfect frames in the third and fourth innings, but ran into trouble in the fifth. A leadoff single, followed by an out, a walk, and another singled had the bases loaded full of Knights. On the next play, a lazy fly ball was lifted into right field.
Mason Elrod let it drop in front of him, but then fired an absolute laser to home plate for the force out. The next batter then flew out to center, leaving the bases loaded.
Rollins added to their lead in the sixth when Brown sent a sac fly to center that was deep enough to score
Connor O'Sullivan, who was hit by a pitch earlier in the inning.
Lynn made a pitching change for the seventh inning, and
Joey Rubin made them pay immediately, leading off the inning with a bomb to left field for his third home run of the year.
Greenseid set the Knights down in order one last time in the eighth to wrap up his impressive outing. He ended with a final line of eight innings, two hits (both singles), zero runs, two walks, and six strikeouts. He had perfect innings in the first, second, third, fourth, sixth, and eighth innings.
The Tars inflated their numbers in the eighth with a strong inning. With two outs, Mauri Nejarano walked, Rubin singled,
Collin Hughes had an RBI single, and
Matthew Mateo had an RBI single to make the final of 5-0.
Coby Vallee tossed a scoreless ninth to wrap things up.
Greenseid moved to 3-0 on the year with the win. Rubin was 2-5 with two runs and an RBI. Hughes was 3-5 with one driven in, Mateo reach four times with two hits and two walks, and Brown was on three times with a run and an RBI.
The two teams will sqaure off in a doubleheader on Saturday, March 28 starting at noon from Alfond Stadium.
