Tars Split With Eagles, Take Series

Rollins and Embry-Riddle each won a game in Saturday's doubleheader

WINTER Park, Fla. (March 14, 2026) - Rollins and Embry-Riddle split their doubleheader on Saturday, with each team earning a win. In game one, the Eagles snapped the Tars' 14-game winning streak with a 7-3 win. Rollins bounced back in the rubber match though, winning 6-4. The Tars now stand at 17-5 on the year with an 8-1 mark in SSC play. Embry-Riddle moves to 10-9, 5-4 SSC.

Game One
Embry-Riddle 7
Rollins 3

JD Bryan and Brett Dennis were locked into a pitcher's duel early on as neither team did much to threaten. However, in the bottom of the third, Mauri Bejarano and Joey Rubin hit back-to-back solo home runs to give Rollins a 2-0 lead.

The Eagles went down easy in the fourth, but made a push in the fifth, using a walk, four singles, and a sac fly to score three earned runs against Dennis. Coming into the game, the junior righty had allowed only one earned run this season. Thankfully, Rubin had his pitcher's back, roping a single up the middle in the bottom half to score Stephen Deans, tying the game.

ERAU put together a two-out rally in the sixth to push ahead. Francisco Feliciano ripped a single to center field to score Derek Lopez, making it 4-3. Mark Loubier entered the game in place of Dennis, getting the final out and leaving two men on base.

The game got blown open in the seventh. A costly throwing error from Mauri Bejarano kept the Eagles in the batters box. With the extra life, they were able to score three unearned runs in the frame to go up 7-3.

Rollins loaded the bases with two out in the eighth, putting the tying run at the plate, but Connor O'Sullivan went down swinging.

Rubin led the offense with two hits, two RBI and a run scored. Mason Elrod added two hits as well. Dennis took the loss, his first of the year, with 5.2 innings, six hits, four runs, and three strikeouts. Bryan took the win for ERAU, going five innings with five punchouts.

Game Two
Rollins 6
Embry-Riddle 4

After Brody Meyers struck out two in the top of the first, he was instantly rewarded in the bottom of the frame when Elrod launched his second home run of the year over the left field fence to score himself and Collin Hughes. Then, in the bottom of the second, Elvin Figueroa got in on the fun with a solo shot to right field. The exit velocity off his bat was over 116 miles per hour.

Meyers cruised through the third and fourth innings. The Tars rallied with two outs in the fourth as Bejarano tripled off the wall, and was immediately brought in on a Rubin single to make it 4-0. Rollins then wrapped up their scoring in the sixth when Jayden Brown launched a two-run bomb to right-center, plating Jimmy Thies to make it 6-0.

Embry-Riddle got on the board in the seventh, thanks to another error from the Tars. A dropped ball at first base allowed the leadoff hitter on, and they were immediately brought in on a triple from Derek Lopez. The next batter was Jack Beyl, who had an infield single to make it 6-2. Meyers hunkered down and was able to get out of the inning without further damage.

Things got interesting in the eighth when Malachi Pena poked a ball over the left field fence for a two-run home run, making it 6-4. AJ Seymour pitched through the rest of the inning, and also recorded one out in the ninth before conceding the mound to Coby Vallee. Vallee retired both hitters he saw to lock in his first save of the season.

Rubin recorded two more hits in the end cap, adding another RBI to his season ledger. Elrod provided two batted in, as did Brown. Six of the Tars' eight hits in the game went for extra bases. This was the first game all season that Collin Hughes started and did not record a hit.

Meyers turned in a quality start on the mound, tossing seven innings while scattering four hits, allowing one earned run, and striking out six.

Next up for the Tars is a Monday matinee with the Northern State Wolves. Right now, first pitch is scheduled for 3pm from Alfond Stadium, though that time could change pending potential bad weather. Stay tuned to RollinsSports.com for the latest updates.
