Tars Cruise to 5-0, Best Start Since 2009

Rollins defeated Edward Waters 6-1 in Tuesday afternoon's regional match

WINTER PARK, Fla. (February 24, 2026) – Rollins added another win to their impressive spring campaign Tuesday afternoon defeating Edward Waters 6-1 in match play. The victory propelled the Tars to a 5-0 record, the best start in program history since 2009.

The Tars were off and rolling, picking up the doubles point with a clean sweep. Tuesday afternoon afforded the opportunity for new lineups, including Amina Taibi and Lorin Tilipman playing from line one for the first time. The duo battled, prevailing 6-4 and securing all three matches from a double's standpoint. Previously, Amina Abdulloeva and her partner, Nisan Can, put away line two with ease, winning 6-1.  Doing one better, Alyssa Novoa and Sydney Eckstein cruised in the minimum, taking doubles number three six sets to zero in their second consecutive match as a pair.

While Tilipman and Taibi did not participate in the singles lineup, their doubles counterparts were all equally impressive. So too was Annie Sallick, entering the lineup for the first time this spring and not missing a beat. The Washington, D.C, native was impressive, winning in straight sets including a 6-0 sweep her match finale.

Prior to Sallick's effort from line five, which concluded the overall match, her teammates were locked in, riding their momentum from the doubles play. First it was Nisan Can, providing yet another clean sheet, and this time doing so from court number two. The other half of the dynamic doubles duo, Abdulloeva, wrapped up things on court three shortly thereafter with a 6-0, 6-1 result. Sydney Eckstein followed suit, picking up her first singles win in dominant fashion, 6-0, 6-1 on line four. Finally, Alyssa Novoa continued to be nails from headliner, taking singles number one, 6-1, 6-1.

Tuesday's regional match marked the first time the Tars and Tigers met from the newly built Tennis and Golf Center, a momentous occasion that was not lost on head coach Tasi Purcell Batista.

"It was nice to welcome Edward Waters to our campus for the very first time. The team has great sportsmanship, and we look forward to competing together again in the upcoming spring seasons."

What's upcoming for Rollins in this spring season, is a date with the Palm Beach Atlantic Sailfish. The Tars will hit the road Saturday for West Palm with one goal: another conference victory. Match play will begin at 1pm.
