Tars Complete Sweep of Greyhounds

Rollins defeated Assumption 14-1 on Sunday afternoon

WINTER PARK, Fla. (February 15, 2026) - The Rollins Tars put on an offensive clinic on Sunday, completing a four-game sweep of the Assumption Greyhounds with a 14-1 victory. The Tars now stand at 6-4 on the season, while Assumption sits at 0-4.

Tyler Toro breezed through the top of the first, and had instant run support when Michael Furry went deep for a three-run opposite field home run that scored Joey Rubin and Collin Hughes

After another scoreless effort from Toro, Mauri Bejarano went big fly to right for his first dinger of the season, plating himself and Stephen Deans

The hit parade continued in the third. Owen Rardin doubled home Connor O'Sullivan for his first career hit and RBI. Four batters later, with the bases loaded, Hughes ripped a single through the right side that brought home Rardin and Deans to make it 8-0.

Matthew Mateo led off the fourth inning with an absolute nuke to right field. After a walk to Jayden Brown, Rardin came through again with an RBI single. Three batters later, Rubin brought Rardin home with a single of his own, making it 11-0.

Toro was scheduled for only four innings, and the Greyhounds got on the board in the fifth with an RBI groundout. To make up for it, the Tars added three more runs in the bottom half on an O'Sullivam single and a two-run bomb from Rardin, giving the freshman his first career home run.

The game went scoreless for the final nine outs, but not before the Tars had one more highlight. David Austen was called out of the bullpen to close out the seventh inning. He struck out the first batter on a curve ball, but it hit the dirt, allowing the run to reach first. Austen then struck out the next three hitters, giving him four Ks in the inning.

Rardin had the best game of his young career, going 3-4 with three runs and four RBI. The four home runs for the Tars is a season high, and accounted for about 28% of their 15 total hits on the day. Toro took the win on the mound, allowing just one hit in four innings.

The Tars will open up SSC play on Friday, February 20 when they welcome the Florida Southern Mocs to Alfond Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 2:00 pm on Friday.
