WINTER PARK, Fla. (October 14, 2026) - Men's soccer put on a stellar show on Wednesday, overcoming a two goal deficit on two occasions to secure a 4-3 win over the Nova Southeatern Sharks. The Tars move to 5-4-2, 3-3-1 SSC on the year while the Sharks fall to 2-8-1, 1-6-1 SSC.
Nova Southeastern controlled the first twenty minutes of the game, scoring twice early. Andres Morral Rosales found the net in the 15th minute off a perfect cross from Erik Krohnstad, and then struck again when a foul was called on Rollins in the box, giving him a penalty kick that he converted.
Despite the deficit, Rollins never gave up. In fact they quickly struck back in the 23rd minute when
Finlay Prain received a pass from
Yousef Shakweer and blasted shot to the top left corner of the goal to put the Tars on the board.
The Sharks were rewarded with a second penalty kick in the 33rd minute when Prain was whistled for a hand ball while in the box. Morral Rosales completed the hat trick but sinking the PK, pushing the Shark lead to 3-1. However, about nine minutes after the goal, Morral Rosales was whistled for a red card after getting into an altercation with a Rollins player and making contact with his head. Nova Southeastern held their 3-1 lead at half but the momentum had shifted to the Tars.
It took a while for Rollins to get going, but they were applying pressure right out of the gate. In the 69th minute, a corner kick was touched twice and found it's way to
Julian Hernandez. The freshman, standing just outside the box, put some wicked spin on his boot and snuck the ball into the top bin to make it 3-2.
In the 74th minute, Prain made a fantastic solo play. After the Sharks stopped a Tar attack, the keeper lazily put the ball down in front of him. Prain sprang from his side, was able to deflect his punt, and tapped the ball in to tie the game.
Rollins lost their man advantage in the 78th minute when
Ivar Bjorgvinsson received a second yellow and was ejected. It did not matter though as the Tars had established the pace of play at that point. Just two minutes after the ejection,
Shota Fukinishi received a drop pass from
Sebastian Alvarez and smoked a ball into the left corner for his first career Rollins goal, making the final score of 4-3.
The Tars outshot the Sharks 20-14 (8-5 on goal), and also claimed the corner kick advantage, 8-3. This was Prain's second two-goal game in a row, and the 8th time he scored in a match this season.
Next up for Rollins is a road game at Eckerd on Saturday, October 17. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:00 pm.
