Wilson put together one of the top offensive seasons for Rollins in the more than 100-year history of the program. He was the only player to appear in all 49 games this season, splitting his time between catcher, designated hitter, and first base. He finished the year with a .357 batting average, collecting 65 hits in 182 at bats. Wilson was an extra-base hit maven, stroking 15 doubles, a triple, and 16 home runs on the season, leading to a slugging percentage of .714, the second-highest total in a single season in Tars history. He also added 27 walks and was hit by a pitch 11 times, increasing his on-base percentage to .456. Wilson was also responsible for 118 runs on the year, scoring 49 times while also driving in 69. His RBI total is the 4th-highest for a single year in Rollins history as well.
In addition to his offensive prowess, which included four multi-home run games and 20 games with more than one hit, Wilson was incredible behind the plate. He posted a .984 fielding percentage on the year, and threw out 10 of 18 runners who tried to steal on him.
Wilson helped the Tars achieve one of their best offensive performances in the 125+ year history of the program. He set a career-high on March 1st at Embry-Riddle when he drove in seven runners on three hits, including two home runs. He also had six-RBI performances against Assumption on February 15 and Eckerd on April 17. His performance against Palm Beach Atlantic in the final homestand of the season was a masterpiece as he went 8-12 in the three games, roping two doubles, three home runs, and driving in eight, which earned him the NCBWA South Region Hitter of the Week award.
Earlier this season, Wilson was named 1st team All-SSC by league coaches, and 1st team All-South Region for both NCBWA and ABCA. Strangely, the D2CCA (which is voted on by SIDs from the Sunshine State Conference, Gulf South Conference, and Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference) only had him as a 2nd team catcher, despite his output being far superior in literally every category than the West Florida catcher who was chosen for the first team.
The Orlando native, who technically has one more season of eligibility remaining due to a redshirt in 2022, is the first Tars All-American since starting pitcher Jaylyn Whitehead in 2022. Coincidentally, Whitehead was also a graduate of Olympia High School, similar to Wilson.
